Northwest Dawah Foundation Booth at iCare Ramadan 2022
This past Friday and Saturday, the Northwest Dawah Foundation leadership team had the opportunity to exhibit at the Islamic Community Center of Hillsboro (ICCH) inaugural iCare Ramadan 2022 event in Hillsboro, Oregon, which is an event seeking to facilitate a way for their community to learn about local and national Islamic nonprofits and the work they are doing and to give back and support these causes. The event was organized very well by the ICCH volunteers and had a nice outdoor pavilion of booths and tents for each nonprofit participating in the event which included Islamic Relief, Bayan, Guidance College, Muslimahs United, Kama Relief Corporation, Islamic Social Services of Oregon, Cool Islam, and Portland Refugee Support Group (PRSG). Surrounding the Islamic nonprofit pavilion was a well laid out areas for brothers, sisters, and families to eat iftar in large tent areas and there was a bouncey house and other activities for the youth. On Friday night, a brief reminder was given by Dr. Ahmed Khater of Guidance College on the dangers of Riba (Interest) and on Saturday we heard from Dr. Main Al-Qudah Ph.D, also of Guidance College and both graduates of Al-Azhar in Cairo, Egypt among other institutions and scholars they have studied with Alhamdulilah. We felt this event was well executed and had a great time talking to the community about our work and many community members already followed us or knew about our work, which was great to hear, but we reached many more who have not and we’re able to signup new volunteers and raise funds as a part of our Ramadan fundraising to help sustain us for another year. Inshallah this event will occur next year and we would jump at the opportunity to attend again. May Allah Subhanahu wa ta ala reward the Islamic Community Center of Hillsboro for their effort, precision in planning this event, and the good example they are setting for other masajid to follow.
