In the serene Cottonwood Canyon State Park, an extraordinary journey unfolded yesterday as our Brothers embarked on a trek filled with camaraderie and personal enrichment. Against the backdrop of rugged canyon and starlit skies, our collective aim was to strengthen bonds, detach from worldly distractions, and immerse ourselves in worship during this sacred month of Ramadan.
Joined by brothers hailing from three different masajid (Masjed As Saber, Bilal Masjid, Abu Bakr), our trek became a gathering of brothers seeking stronger ties with brothers and a day of ibadah with less distractions. As the golden hues of dusk descended upon us, signaling the time for iftar, we gathered around a crackling fire to partake in a hearty meal of grilled lamb, chicken, and vegetables.
Under the canopy of night, with only the twinkling stars to illuminate the sky, we united in prayer, performing Maghrib, Isha, and Taraweh together. The tranquil atmosphere of the canyon, punctuated by the gentle chirping of birds and the distant howls of coyotes, provided the perfect backdrop for our journey of brotherhood. The resounding sentiment echoed by many of our brothers at the conclusion of the event affirmed its significance as one of the most memorable gatherings within our local Muslim community. Such affirmations serve as a testament to the profound impact of fostering brotherhood and worship in an environment not surrounded by the worldy distractions we deal with everyday. As we reflect on this event, we extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated volunteers, particularly our youth volunteers, whose unwavering commitment ensured the success of this event.
